Take advantage of discounted rates by state! Plus, just one guest needs to qualify for everyone in your stateroom to be eligible for state savings. At pier check-in, show proof of residency, a driver's license, for example. Applicable states and rates change often, so be sure to ask our cruise experts for the latest deals offered to residents of your state.

Senior Discount

Passengers 55 and older by their departure date can qualify for special rates. You must confirm your age with a government-issued ID (we recommend a passport or driver's license) at the pier before boarding the ship. Most cruise lines qualify seniors as 55 and older. Exceptions to this are: Costa Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Princess Cruises.

Everybody wants more. Norwegian’s Free at Sea helps you make the most of your cruise. Read on to find out what it is and how it works.

What is Free at Sea?

With Norwegian, you can vacay your way. Personalization is key to the Norwegian experience and that even applies to the way you book. You have the choice of a low-price Sail Away rate, without any extras, or for a somewhat higher fare, you can choose Free at Sea, which gives you more amenities from specialty dining to free drinks. Even better, you can choose which Free at Sea offers you want, so your experience is tailored to you. If you take all the offers, you’re getting an all-inclusive experience at a lower price than you would get from other cruise lines. You can combine these deals with limited-time offers to get even more from your cruise experience.

What are the offers?

The available offers are: unlimited open bar, free specialty dining, a shore excursion credit, free Wi-Fi, and low or no fares for 3rd and 4th guests. Wi-Fi and the shore excursion credit are always included in the Free at Sea fare. Open bar and specialty dining can be added with a service charge for each.

Here are more details on each offer:

Unlimited open bar

Drinks can add up. If you like to have a glass of wine with dinner or a couple cocktails poolside, it might be cheaper (and more convenient) to choose this offer. It covers premium spirits, cocktails, draft beer, wine by the glass, juice, and soda. There’s no set limit of drinks per day.

There is a service fee that you’ll have to pay up front: $28.50 per day for each guest 21 or over. Without Free at Sea, you’d pay $89 per person per day for a drink package.

Specialty dining

Norwegian offers many specialty dining experiences and this deal lets you and your second guest sample them. Each meal includes an entrée and up to three appetizers and three desserts. This is your chance to indulge and try something new.

The covered restaurants include: Cagney's Steakhouse, La Cucina, Food Republic, Le Bistro, Moderno Churrascaria, Q Texas Smokehouse, Teppanyaki, Los Lobos, Ocean Blue, Bayamo and Onda by Scarpetta. The more nights you cruise, the more specialty meals you get.

Like the open bar offer, this one comes with an upfront service charge. It’s $20 per meal. That’s instead of the $40 to $60 cover charge you would pay normally.

Free Wi-Fi

High speed Wi-Fi for all guests helps you keep in touch with your whole crew while you’re on board. Each guest in your stateroom will have their own allotment of 150 Wi-Fi minutes (no need to share).

Without Free at Sea, a Wi-Fi pass would cost $29.99 per device, per day.

Shore excursion credit

As much as you enjoy time on board, adventure is waiting on shore. The shore excursion credit makes it easier to explore. Your first guest (aka you!) will get a $50 credit for each port.

Low or no fares for 3rd and 4th guest

Bring the kids along without breaking the bank. This one’s not available on every sailing, but many Free at Sea bookings are free or $99 for the 3rd and 4th guests in your stateroom.

Free airfare for 2nd guest

Book your flight through Norwegian and your second plane ticket is covered. This not only saves you money, but can save the time you would spend booking your flight separately. Norwegian will choose your flights, though, so if you want more options, you may want to book on your own.

How does it work?

When you choose to book a cruise at the Free at Sea rate, you’ll get to personalize your experience with your choice of offers. The Wi-Fi and shore excursion deals are always included. You can pick specialty dining, open bar, or both, depending on which ones you think you’ll use. It’s all up to you.

As mentioned above, you’ll have to pay a service charge for the drinks and dining options up front, but you’ll still probably come out ahead in the long run. Remember that without Free at Sea, if you change your mind and decide you want any of these amenities while you’re onboard, you’ll have to pay for each one separately.

Is Free at Sea right for me?

In many cases, Free at Sea is the way to go. If you want to get a Norwegian cruise on your calendar at the lowest up front price, then you may choose the Sail Away rate. However, if you want to take advantage of amenities like free drinks or specialty dining, you’ll probably come out ahead by taking Free at Sea. If you want an all-inclusive experience at a lower price than other cruise lines, then Free at Sea is the deal for you.
