much improved by
connie A. from Wantagh,N Y
Sailing date: Aug 2009 Pros:
I haven't sailed on this line for 16 years but cruise yearly. The service was excellent as the food and show
Cons:
If you have teens take Royal caribean. This line has a great program on paper however the poeple who run the teen program was a babysitter and di not do anythings that were suppose to run for teens(games) the room was open to play video games . The program is only as good as the people who run it. D
kids program does not operate while the ship is in port.
For adults place was wonderful ship brand new, shows were broadway great!!
Ship Quality room was very clean at all times as was the ship
Dining/Food food has gotten much better than it was. meals were very good and the service was the best
Stateroom Quality balcony was small but great to have. lots of space for your clothes
Ship Staff Quality they people work very hard and are very friendly.
Entertainment & Activities The shows were excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Children's Programs as stated the program on paper is wonderful however you need someone to run the program and not be babysitter for teens. This trip my 23 teens were not happy which effected my husband and my trip/ The 9-11 yrs old seemed to be doing the program and kids had fun. Does NOT OPerate which ship is in port!! Royal Caribean is better for my kids and me.

Great First Cruise by
Monique from Harlem, New York
Sailing date: Apr 2009 Pros:
Customer Service
Cons:
Food selection can stand to be worked on.
Definitely a FUN SHIP, met all expectations. This was our first cruise. Carnival did an EXCELLENT job at changing our sail port in leu of the swine flu being in Mexico. Instead we went to NASSAU BAHAMAS, trust me i was not mad AT ALL! In fact I feel they really up"ed their ratings with that change. I feel a different cruise most likely would have just kept us on sea. GO CARNIVAL!! WOO HOO!!!
Ship Quality At first look i felt a bit cheated since they were painting the ship as we were boarding BUT... it surely gleamed as we was sailing.
Dining/Food Me, I loved the food. My husband, well... he wasn't too happy with the selection since we are not pork eaters, they had no alternatives for him at breakfast.
Stateroom Quality Our room was just as we saw online with the 360 view. Loved the balcony (worth the extra money BOOK IT!) the privacy really made the difference.
Ship Staff Quality We're big on customer service and i must say the staff of the ship was SUPER!
Entertainment & Activities There was so much to do i felt like i needed to be two people in one. There were loads of things to do.. especially the days just at sea, i mean they really kicked it up with activities.. night shows, casino, movies, raffles you name it they had it!

So-so Cruise by
A Traveler from Suffolk, VA
Sailing date: Apr 2009 Pros:
Shore excurisions
This was an okay cruise. But I don't think I will cruise on Carnival again or recommend it to my friends. I have cruised before and my experience on Carnival Destiny leaves a bit to be deisred. I left the ship feeling quite disappointed in the whole trip. By comparison, Royal Caribbean cruises are much, mcuh better!
Ship Quality The ship had an old feel to it.
Dining/Food I would compare the food to Golden Corral restuarants. In the dining room, our table was in the back corner near the revoling doors to the kitchen.
Stateroom Quality The stateroom was much smaller than pictured on the website. The shower drained too slow. But on a positive note, the bed was quite comfortable.
Ship Staff Quality This was one of the better things about this cruise. The staff was helpful and willing to answer our questions.
Entertainment & Activities There was something for everyone to enjoy.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica Watch out for the locals trying to sell their wares . They were like leeches!
Don't Miss: Jamaican bobsledding was GREAT!

An Excellent Cruise by
John G. from Oneonta, New York
Sailing date: Mar 2009 Pros:
What I like most about the cruise, is the friendlyness of all those who helped us planned our vacation. Information was the Key to our first time experience on a cruise. Everyone was so willing to share their experiences and give us their inside tips.
Cons:
The cruise was great, but the sea's can be rough.
The crew on the ship was great. They were willing to help out in whatever way they could. The food service was the best. The sit down meals were a great opportunity to get to know others. I couldn't say enough about the ship and its crew. They were Excellent!
Ship Quality If I could put it all in one word, that word would be "Healthy". The ship and its conditions were healthy.
Dining/Food Excellent food and service. Our servers, Noel & Rosa, were excellent in serving and knowing our need, before we asked.
Stateroom Quality I was very pleased with the size of the room and especially the bathroom. I am a big guy and the bathrooms were a concern. When I saw them, my fears were put to rest.
Ship Staff Quality They were ready and willing to serve.
Entertainment & Activities Excellent Job.

A GREAT first cruise!!! by
Brenda B from Upstate NY
Sailing date: Feb 2009 Pros:
Everything
Cons:
Purchase of the soda cards
Carnival really does a great job in keeping activities going all of the time. We traveled with our 17 and 20 year old children and there was plenty of activities going on to keep everyone occupied. The food was incredible and exceeded our expectations. When we entered the ship, we purchased soda cards for 20 some odd dollars each, not knowing that we really didn't need them only to purchase soda. There was ample amounts of the juices, lemondade, iced tea and water available and we barely used them at all. My recommendation is that unless you absolutely need soda, save your money. The ports were fantastic and our excursions we purchased through Carnival were excellent. We had a really great time.
Ship Quality The ship was extra clean, the crew does a great job of keeping everything spotless. The only problem is that our shower drain didn't drain fast enough and the water would back up into the bathroom. I'm sure this would have been fixed right away if we would have reported it, however we thought this was "normal" being that we never have been on a cruise before and never reported it.
Dining/Food The food was incredible. Anyone that says they didn't like the food has a problem as there was so many options for food we couldn't believe it. The hardest part is now that we are home going to a regular restaurant and not being waited on hand and foot like we were on the ship.
Stateroom Quality The staterooms were very nice and better than I expected.
Ship Staff Quality Everyone on this ship went well out of their way to ensure everyone was well taken care of.
Entertainment & Activities Plenty of activities going on to keep everyone busy. I never really found myself bored.
Children's Programs My 17 year old was very occupied with the activities going on for the 15-17 year old kids. I do not have any small children but I can assure you that the small children were well taken care of too as there were many on the ship, but you never realized it as they were busy with activities.

George Town, Grand Cayman Turtle Farm was wonderful, town of Hell which was ok but no big deal, and the Sandbar as Stingray City was fantastic.
Don't Miss: Turtle Farm, Stingray City.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica Climbing Dunes Falls, Chairlift over the rainforest canopy, Jamaican bobsled all were wonderful. Make sure to bring your bathing suite for Dunes Falls as it is a will get soaked event rather than the walk next to the falls event.
Don't Miss: Highly recommend these three activities, all were very fun.

A Relaxing Vacation by
Lauren B. from Lancaster, PA
Sailing date: Jan 2009 Pros:
Cruiseline's Private Island was beautiful, Clean Ship, Friendly staff
Cons:
Food wasn't as good as in the past.
We had a great time on the Elation. Our itinerary was great - it allowed us enough time to relax, but we were also able to see so much.
Ship Quality The ship seemed to be older and a little dated, but was so clean.
Dining/Food The food was not as good on this cruise as it was on past cruises that we have taken with Carnival.
Stateroom Quality Our room was very clean and slightly larger than on other ships that we have been on.

Grand Turk Island I was a little disappointed with this port. They still had not rebuilt since they were hit by a hurricaine in the fall, so there was not much to see or do. Most of the excurisions that they usually offer were cancelled.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) This island is beautiful! The water is crystal clear.
Nassau, Bahamas We did the Atlantis Beach Day excursion. I was concerned about the price when we booked it, but I can now honestly say that it was worth every penny. I would definitely do it again.
Don't Miss: Atlantis

Cons:
original boarding - too long
